Raising the Participation Age (RPA)

The Raising of the Participation Age (RPA) will come into effect from the summer of 2013, when young people will be required to stay on in education or training until the end of the academic year in which they turn 17.  From 2015 all young people will be required to stay on in education or training until their 18th birthday.

The East Sussex Creating Opportunities Strategy outlines how the local authority will work together with our partners and providers over the next two years to ensure that by 2015 all young people are able to participate successfully.  The strategy has been published for consultation and we are inviting schools, colleges, private training providers and other partners to respond to the consultation by Friday 10th February.

The final strategy will then be published in early March 2012.
