Mediation + Time 2 Talk are holding a half-day Wealden Conference entitled 'Conflict Resolution in the Community: Working in Partnership' on Wednesday 30th June 2010, 9.30am-12.50pm followed by buffet lunch at: Committee Room 1, Wealden District Council, Vicarage Lane, Hailsham BN27 2AX.
The conference will be chaired by John Gallop, currently Head of Environmental Protection WDC and Chair of Trustees, Mediation+. Our Keynote Speaker is Sue Bowers, a founder member of Kingston Friends Workshop Group who published the first English handbook for practitioners: 'Ways and Means: An Approach to Problem Solving'. She trained with American Quaker community mediators in London and at the School of Conflict Managers in New York. She was involved with the 'Alternatives to Violence Programme' and the 'Children's Creative Response to Conflict'. Following retirement, she and her husband set up Mediation Dorset, a community service which developed a Young Mediators Project for local schools. She has been a Quaker prison chaplain and served on the Executive and Accreditation Committees of Mediation UK. She has also delivered workshops in Northern Ireland, Europe and Moscow.
Following the keynote speaker, the morning will continue with presentations and discussion sessions from guest speakers across the community, including: Connexions, Sussex Police, Occupational Health, Wealden District Council, Housing Service, Safer Wealden Partnership and the Youth Offending Team.
