Health Website for Young People

The Department of Health (DH) has launched Teen LifeCheck, a website to help young people between the ages of 12-15 explore health and wellbeing issues. The aim is to empower young people to take control of their lives by: raising their awareness of risk seeking behaviour; signposting to further sources of support and advice; supporting healthier choices and helping to set ‘SMART’ health improvement objectives.

Nationwide Volunteering Awards

These awards are designed to recognise those who have made an outstanding contribution to the local community. In particular, the awards are to recognise those people whose efforts have added value to the causes they support, whether it's raising funds for a charity or providing help and
assistance to others.

You can nominate under four categories:

1. Young people under 18 - individual
2. Young people under 18 - organisation
3. Adults - individual
4. Adults - group

Young Roots Programme

YOUNG ROOTS offers grants of between £5,000 and £25,000.The scheme aims to involve 13-20 year-olds (up to 25 for those with special needs) in finding out about their heritage, developing skills, building confidence and promoting community involvement.

NCVYS Youth Forum

On the weekend of February 24/25 there will be a get together for ENVOY (Enthusiastic National Voice Of Youth). ENVOY is NCVYS's youth forum who started working together last year. It will be an interactive, fun and free one day event lasting from 11-3 and including a social activity on either Saturday or Sunday depending on the most preferred day ( to be confirmed by Friday 2 February).

The event is open to all young people aged 11-25, and will be an opportunity for existing members to develop the group further, as well as provide an opportunity for new members to find out what it is and what it involves.

Children's Rights Online Survey

Please find attached letter from Beverly Hughes Minister for Children Young People and Families inviting children and young people to take part in an online children’s right survey. The online survey will gather children’s and young people’s views and experiences of children’s rights. The results will be included in the Government's next report to the United Nations Committ
